Hazlemere Church of England Combined School was founded in 1847, shortly after the church, by Misses Hannah and Elizabeth Carter who were very concerned about the ungodliness of Hazlemere. It was their determined wish to fund a school “to give children some knowledge of right and wrong”! This was when Hazlemere was no more than a hamlet on a high wind-swept heath. The school has been added to and developed since then, and continues to do so to maintain a quality learning environment for the children.
The school enjoys Voluntary Aided Status as a Church of England school and maintains strong links with the lively, family orientated parish church at Holy Trinity. The school has an Early Years Foundation Stage Unit and provides primary education throughout Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 which means we provide education for children from three to eleven years of age. The school is organised in classes by age, normally with a single year age range in each. Classes usually have between 30 - 33 children. Each class has a named class teacher though a range of staff teach and support children in every class.
